PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive spatial light modulator suitable for wavelength equalizers.SOLUTION: A spatial light modulator 20, which outputs incident light L4 after modulating intensity of each of a plurality of wavelength components thereof, comprises a metallic mirror 24 which is also a common electrode, a thin-film Kerr effect material layer 25, transparent electrodes 40, and a dielectric mirror 50 laminated on a substrate 22 in this order. The transparent electrodes 40 comprises a plurality of cell electrodes 41, each having a prescribed shape corresponding to each component of the plurality of wavelength components of light, one dimensionally arranged at a prescribed pitch Pc. Relationship between reflectivity of the metallic mirror R1 and reflectivity of the dielectric mirror R2 is presented by 2%≤|R1-R2|≤64%. |
