The bracket (10) has a lower surface arranged against a roof (1) of a vehicle. An indexing finger (22) is arranged interdependent of the lower surface. The indexing finger approximately perpendicularly covers the lower surface and cooperates with an indexing opening (23) corresponding to the roof. The indexing finger comprises a plastic external part (26), which contacts with a side of the opening indexing on a periphery of the roof when the lower surface is arranged against the roof. A flange (28) is inserted in a housing defined by the lower surface. An independent claim is also included for a fastening assembly for fixing a roof rail on a roof of a vehicle.
