This process which uses a lead alloy, latticed continuous band (1) coated with active material, covered on both sides by protective layers (3, 6) and compacted with the aid of rollers (8 and 9), consists in cutting up the band (1') into plates and in subjecting the cut-up plates (10) to a thermal conditioning (or stabilising) procedure in an oven (D) or in an autoclave, so as to confer upon the plates characteristics appropriate to their end use. A second improvement consists in protecting the coated band with a layer of material which does not disintegrate in acid. Another improvement consists in winding the coated and protected band (1') on to rollers (13) so as to facilitate the operations of conditioning, storage and transport before cutting up into plates. <IMAGE> |
