PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool holder and a machining method by which a stroke can be lengthened for a general machine tool only when necessary.SOLUTION: A tool holder 20 is mounted to a main spindle 17 supported on a main spindle head 15 and supports a cutting tool 18 for machining. The tool holder includes a shaft 22 connected to the main spindle 17, a case 21 rotatably supporting the shaft 22 and connected to the main spindle head 15, an arm 23 supported so as to be advanced and retracted to/from the case 21 and supporting the cutting tool 18, and a driving mechanism 24 advancing and retracting the arm 23 by the rotation of the shaft 22 with respect to the case 21. |
