PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To report a replacement time of a colorant cartridge more readily and more accurately.SOLUTION: A self printer 10 stores total printing amount information 15 including a total printing amount whereby printing can be performed by using an ink cartridge 48. The self printer 10 updates actual past information 16 obtained by counting an actual past printing amount based on usage of the ink cartridge 48 to calculate the estimation printing amount obtained by estimating the printing amount per time unit. When the sum of the actual past printing amount and the estimation printing amount exceeds the total printing amount, the self printer 10 reports information for urging replacement of the ink cartridge 48. In addition, when the residual amount of ink contained in the ink cartridge 48 becomes in an ink end (printing disable) state, the self printer 10 updates the total printing amount included in the total printing amount information 15 on the basis of the actual past printing amount. Further, when replacement of the ink cartridge 48 is performed, the self printer 10 changes the total printing amount and updates the total printing amount information 15 by using the information such as the total printing amount, the actual past printing amount and the residual amount of ink. |
