PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine that can quickly complete an engine start while suppressing degradation in ignition performance of an ignition plug provided in a bank having a cam shaft with large rotation resistance.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 11 includes a first bank 12A and a second bank 12B where a valve timing adjusting device 26A capable of adjusting closing and opening timing of an intake valve 21 is provided, respectively. At an engine start, a control device 60 for the internal combustion engine 11 starts fuel injection in the second bank 12B before fuel injection by the first bank 12A having a cam shaft 24A with larger rotation resistance than a cam shaft 24A of the second bank 12B.
