PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can properly reduce information amount more than needed for an image output size.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 forms an output image depending on an output size determined from the number of pixel and resolution of image data. The image forming apparatus includes: a reduction part 19 that reduces extra pixel when at least the number of pixel of image data exceeds the number of pixel in resolution required at minimum specified as an output image; and an intermediate data generation part 21 in which the formation of the output image is performed based on the image data having the extra pixel reduced.
