PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that forms images by using toner and an image forming method in such image forming apparatus capable of adjusting density of images to reduce density unevenness of images due to rotational deflection of image carriers, while avoiding complexity in control and suppressing toner consumption and required time.SOLUTION: Density unevenness of an image is detected by image density detection means 52 when rotational positions of image carriers 40Y, C, M, K may be changed, and unevenness in image density caused by developing gap fluctuation components of the image carrier 40Y, C, M, K is extracted on the basis of potential distribution of surface potential detected by potential detection means 56Y, C, M, K when the image is formed and the density unevenness. Image forming means 42Y, C, M, K are operated to suppress the extracted unevenness according to conditions determined by image forming condition determination means 37. |
