PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure that when an FD connection transistor is turned on in a solid state image pickup device incorporating the FD connection transistor, the FD connection transistor is always turned on.SOLUTION: A solid state image pickup device comprises: a plurality of pixels, each including a photodiode which generates an electrical charge by photoelectric conversion, a transfer transistor which transfers the electrical charge generated by the photodiode, a floating diffusion (FD) which holds the electrical charge transferred by the transfer transistor, an amplification transistor which outputs a signal corresponding to the electrical charge of the FD, and a reset transistor which resets the potential of the FD; and an FD connection transistor which connects the FDs in the plurality of pixels together. Since a threshold level for the FD connection transistor is made to be lower than a threshold level for the reset transistor, the connection transistor can surely be turned on, making it possible to read out the correct reference voltage. |
