PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing metal thallium which efficiently produces high purity metal thallium in a short time by a simple method without using a high temperature acid solution.SOLUTION: A method for producing metal thallium includes adding a reducing agent to a thallium-containing solution to settle thallium precipitates and adding alkali salt and a reducing source to the thallium precipitates to dissolve the thallium precipitates, or a method for producing metal thallium includes adding the alkali salt and the reducing source to a thallium halide to dissolve the thallium halide. Preferably, the alkali salt is either NaOH or KOH and the reducing source is coke.
