PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor memory device capable of consecutively outputting data from different columns by efficiently switching column selection lines.SOLUTION: A semiconductor memory device is provided with a plurality of memory banks including a plurality of nonvolatile memory cells. A plurality of buffers are provided corresponding to the plurality of memory banks, respectively and temporarily store data of the memory banks when writing or reading data. A controller generates a buffer enable signal that switches between a first mode and a second mode. In the first mode, the controller consecutively reads data of a plurality of columns by using data that is already read to the buffers or consecutively writes data of the plurality of columns by using the data that is already read to the buffers. In the second mode, the controller reads data of a single column that is selected when reading or writing data or writes the data of the selected single column. |
