PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection apparatus capable of promptly and reliably grasping abnormality of a paper container by irradiating a packaged product for boxed tissue paper with ultraviolet rays when inspecting the packaged product.SOLUTION: A product inspection apparatus is configured to detect abnormality of a paper container for a product composed of the paper container and a packaging film which packages the paper container. The product inspection apparatus comprises a sensor and a detector. The sensor takes in fluorescent reflection light from a fluorescent component that a paper material of the paper container contains, by means of ultraviolet rays irradiating the paper container. The detector fetches the quantity of received fluorescent reflection light from the sensor and detects abnormality of the paper container from a difference in content of the fluorescent component between a front layer and a rear layer in the paper material of the paper container.
