PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means which achieves sufficient joint strength between a gas barrier film and a sealing substrate thereby improving the durability in an electronic device using the gas barrier film having a gas barrier layer.SOLUTION: An electronic device includes: a gas barrier film including a substrate and a gas barrier layer; a sealing material; an electronic element body positioned between the gas barrier film and the sealing substrate; and a welding promoter composed of an elementary substance or a compound of a metal in the group VI of the periodic table or a mixture of those elementary substance and compound. The gas barrier film and the sealing substrate are joined through the welding promoter thereby sealing the electronic element body.
