PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material that has a sufficient infrared reflectability and also is excellent in heat stability and heat resistance, and has no concern for the safety and the environmental problem.SOLUTION: The infrared reflective material according to the present invention is a perovskite-type composite oxide comprising at least an alkaline earth metal element and at least one element selected from titanium, zirconium and niobium, and optionally comprising an element of manganese and/or iron, an element from group IIIa of the periodic table, such as iron, aluminum, gallium, etc., a zink element, etc. The infrared reflective material according to the present invention can be produced by a method such as mixing a predetermined amount of an alkaline earth metal compound, a titanium compound, and further optionally a manganese compound and/or an iron compound, a compound from group IIIa of the periodic table, a zinc compound, etc., and calcinating it. The obtained composite oxide is a powder type and it can be blended into a paint or a resin composition, and can be utilized in a variety of applications, such as coating the roof or exterior wall of a building, or coating roads or sidewalks, to alleviate the heat island phenomenon. |
