PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for reducing that time until operation of respective devices is started is biased according to whether a system is in movement reading for operating a mobile device or transportation reading for operating a transportation device.SOLUTION: An image reader includes a switch gear and a control section. The switch gear is changed over to a carriage side position (a FB side position) where a motor side transmission gear is coupled with a carriage side transmission gear for transmitting power to a carriage, and a transportation section side position (an ADF side position) where the motor side transmission gear is coupled with a transmission section side transmission gear for transmitting the power to a transmission section. The control section performs movement processing (a step S85) for moving the switch gear to a stop position of the switch gear, which is positioned between the carriage side position and the transportation section side position, when a motor is stopped. |
