PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more accurately determine a direction of an edge in a target pixel independently of the amount of noise.SOLUTION: An edge direction determination device 1 includes first direction determination means 10 which determines a direction of an edge in a target pixel to output a first determination result; second direction determination means 11 which has a low-pass filtering effect higher than that of the first direction determination means and determines the direction of the edge in the target pixel to output a second determination result; flatness calculation means 12 which calculates flatness of the target pixel; combination ratio calculation means 13 which calculates, as a combination ratio of the first determination result to the second determination result according with the flatness calculated by the flatness calculation means, such a combination ratio that the proportion of the first determination result is higher for higher flatness and the proportion of the second determination result is higher for lower flatness; and combination means 14 which combines the first determination result and the second determination result on the basis of the combination ratio calculated by the combination ratio calculation means. The edge direction determination device 1 determines a direction corresponding to the combination result obtained by the combination means, as the edge direction of the target pixel. |
