Provided is a specimen hopper capable of freely turning the supply of specimens on or off, without injuring the same, even for minute specimens such as shrimp larvae, thereby allowing precise and extremely low loss quantitative counts, quantitative distribution, and the like. To achieve this, a hopper body (10) having an outlet on the bottom and accommodating specimens to be counted along with a liquid is combined with a siphon tube (20) reaching a level the same as or lower than an outlet (12) passing higher than the liquid level in the hopper body (10) from the outlet (12) of the hopper body (10). The section of the siphon tube (20) higher than the liquid level is a horizontal pipe section (23). The horizontal pipe section(23) is provided with: an air release valve for stopping siphoning (27), connected to the siphon tube (20) from outside the tube, for releasing air in the liquid flow channel in the tube; and a liquid discharge nozzle for starting siphoning (25), connected to the siphon tube (20) and positioned on the upstream-side of the air release valve for stopping siphoning (27), for injecting liquid to the downstream side of the liquid flow channel in the tube. |
