A winding device comprises: a wire material cutting mechanism which cuts a wire material which is wound around a winding member near a terminal of the wire material; and a wire material binding mechanism which winds around a terminal an end part of the wire material which is wound around the winding member and is cut by the wire material cutting mechanism. The wire material binding mechanism further comprises a cylindrical member wherethrough the terminal can be threaded, and a rotating means for rotating the cylindrical member about the terminal. A protrusion is formed on a portion of a leading end of the cylindrical member in the circumference direction which protrudes from the leading end. A method for binding the end part of the wire material to the terminal aligns the end part of the wire material with the terminal, threads the terminal in the cylindrical member whereupon the protrusion which is formed upon the portion of the leading end in the circumference direction and which protrudes from the leading end, rotates the cylindrical material about the terminal, and winds around the terminal the end part of the wire material which makes contact with the protrusion. |
