The dielectric antenna (1) has a dielectric structure (2) having a supply section (4) for receiving electromagnetic radiation, a lens shaped radiation section (5) for emitting electromagnetic radiation. A conductive sheet (3) surrounds the dielectric structure from supply section to radiation section. The supply and radiation openings (6,7) are provided in the conductive sheath in the area of supply section and radiation section respectively. The cross section of radiation opening is provided in the dielectric structure of supply section.
