<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game apparatus or the like which show the types and timings of a gesture so that a player may easily follow them. <P>SOLUTION: In a game apparatus 301, a detecting section 302 detects a gesture of a player, and a display section 303 displays on a screen a type symbol representing the type of a gesture to be made by a player, and a timing symbol representing the timings of the start and end of the gesture. A determining section 304 determines whether a detected gesture has been successfully made or not. The front end of the timing symbol in a predetermined direction moves in the predetermined direction within the screen before the timing of the start, and at the timing of the start, it reaches a front reference line set within the screen.
