PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire for heavy load, restraining the occurrence of a side cut failure when treading on a projection such as stone or the line on a runway, and restraining the heating value of tread rubber. SOLUTION: In the width-direction section of the tire, an angleαof inclination of a straight line b to a straight line c is 0°<α≤30°, an angleβof inclination of a straight line connecting the tire maximum width position 9 and a tread grounding end to a straight line d is 0°≤β<30°, the radial distance h of the tire to the sectional height SH of the tire is set to 0.20SH≤h≤0.40SH, an angleγof inclination toward the radial inside of the tire of a straight line e drawn from the outermost position A in the radial direction of the tire of a boundary line BL to a point of intersection with the tread side surface of the boundary line BL to a virtual straight line f in an area G is 0°≤γ≤20°, and also a modulus of resilience of a base rubber 7a is set to 1.42-2.0 times as large as that of a cap rubber 7b.
