PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector capable of suppressing damages to an optical fiber caused by a cooling mechanism thereof and absorbing cladding mode light as efficiently as possible.SOLUTION: An optical connector includes a cylindrical housing 10a into which an optical fiber 91 having a mode stripper E formed thereon to release cladding mode light is inserted and a cylindrical cover 20 which is located outside the housing 10a and is configured to circulate coolant between itself and the housing 10a. The housing 10a has a roughened surface area R formed on an inner surface thereof at a location where the mode stripper E is arranged.
