PURPOSE:To record/reproduce sound signals with excellent sound quality even at a low speed drive, by splitting a recording track part written with an auxiliary head in the 1.5 head system for recording the vertical blanking line of a video signal and a time-compressed sound signal thereon. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 13 comprises a lower cylinder 9 and an upper cylinder 8 in rotation, and a main rotary magnetic head 10 and the 1st and the 2nd subrotary magnetic heads 11, 12 as shown in figure are fixed to the cylinder 8. In figure, 5 is a recording track of the video signal recorded with a main head 10, and 6 is a recording track recorded at the vertical blanking period of the video signal with the 1st subhead 11, and 7 is recording track of the sound signal subjected to time-compression with the 2nd subhead 12. The recording track 6 has a narrow track width and the S/N is deteriorated, but the synchronizing signal is recorded and the signal on this track does not appear on the reproducing screen, then no effect is given. Although the width of the track 7 is narrow and the S/N is deteriorated, excellent reproduction is attained because of the PCM recording, and even if the tape running speed is low, the sound signal is recorded/reproduced with excellent sound quality. |
