<p>The system has a housing including a chamber (14) with a fluid inlet opening (11) and a fluid outlet opening. A rotor rotatably mounted in the chamber includes a flange (12) fixed with blades (15) that are opposite to the fluid inlet opening. An adapter (16) defines a sealed cavity (17) with a wall of the housing at the periphery of the fluid inlet opening. The adapter of annular shape is mounted axially movable on the periphery of the fluid inlet opening for altering a fluid passage between the rotor and the housing, where the adapter includes openings (22) facing the blades of the rotor.
