The present invention provides an electrode wire for electro-spark machining which generates a little amount of fine powder in an electro-spark machining and obtains improved surface profiles and machining speed. The electrode wire for electro-spark machining includes a core wire made of first metal, which contains copper and formed into one shape among anαshape, anα+β′shape, and aβ′shape; a first alloy layer of theβ′shape formed on a boundary between the core wire and second metal coated on the surface of the core wire by the counter diffusion of the second metal and the core wire; and a second alloy layer which is formed into aγshape or/and anεshape by the diffusion of the first metal toward the second metal. Especially, the core wire exudes out from the surface of the electrode wire, which includes the core wire and the first and second alloy layers, for electro-spark machining and penetrates upward through cracks of the second alloy layer, thereby forming a plurality of crystal grain pieces.
