The present invention relates to a method for transmitting transport characteristics of multimedia data, comprising the steps of: generating transport characteristics of multimedia data which corresponds with a media processing unit (MPU) constituting the multimedia data, and which includes at least one among quality of service (QoS description) information indicating a relative priority per transmitting packet and bitstream description information which is required for resources reservation; inserting and transmitting the transport characteristics to an MPU header; obtaining and transmitting the QoS from the MPU header; and obtaining and transmitting the bitstream description information from the MPU header.
