An embodiment of the present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for detecting a single photon by detecting a reverse signal. The embodiment of the present invention provides the apparatus for detecting a single photo comprising a photodetector for receiving a photon from a light source to output an electrical signal; a reverse unit for reversing the polarity of an output signal from the photodetector to generate a reverse signal; and a determination unit for comparing the magnitude of the reverse signal with a threshold value to determine if the photon is received.
