A double-deck elevator, wherein a first actuating lever is provided in an upper car emergency stop unit, and a second actuating lever is provided in a lower car emergency stop unit. An actuating rope is wound on actuating rope pulleys provided in the upper part of a car unit frame. The actuating rope is connected to a connection-side lever that is either one of the first and second actuating levers, and is passed through a through-side lever that is the other of the first and second actuating levers. A contact body is provided to the actuating rope below the through-side lever at a predetermined distance from the through-side lever. When the upper car and the lower car fall to the car unit frame, the contact body is brought into contact with the through-side lever, and the first and second actuating levers are relatively pulled up by the actuating rope. |
