PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-soluble yellow pigment (compound) that has high solubility in water, and is superior in a variety of fastness such as water resistance, humidity resistance, ozone gas resistance, wear resistance and light resistance, particularly superior in ozone gas resistance, and provide a yellow ink composition containing the same and used for inkjet recording.SOLUTION: This invention provides a water-soluble azo compound represented by the formula (1) or salt thereof. In the formula (1), A is -S-CH(-X)(-Y), Q represents a halogen atom, n represents an integer of 2 to 4, and X and Y independently represent a carboxy group, a carbamoyl group, a sulfo group, or a (C1-C4) alkyl group, which may be substituted with a hydroxy group, a carboxy a group, carbamoyl group, or a sulfo group. |
