PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating material composition and a coating film formation method each capable of forming coating films applicable to various industrial products, above all outer panels of automobiles, yielding excellent effulgent appearances from highlight (in the vicinity of regularly reflected beams) to face (intermediate) positions, accompanied by neither white shade-offs nor reddish or yellowish tints at the shade position (oblique direction), exhibiting moderate brightness variations, and excellent in terms of weather resistance.SOLUTION: The coating material composition of the present invention includes a black composite metal oxide pigment having primary particle diameters of at least 5 nm and no larger than 500 nm and a light-interfering pigment provided by coating a translucent base material with a metal oxide; a coating film formation method wherein a substrate is coated with the provided coating material composition and then with a clear coating material is also provided. |
