<p>A disposable integral filter unit (10) having an inlet (40) and an outlet (60), and comprising a plurality of filter plates (20n) interposed between a pair of end plates (24,26). Each of the filter plates (20n) comprises a polymeric framework (28) and a deep gradient filter packet (35) embedded in the polymeric framework (28). The filter plates (20n) and end plates (24,26) form a substantially fixed integral stack so that fluid entering the disposable integral filter unit (10) through the inlet (40) passes the deep gradient filter packet (35) of each filter plate (20n) substantially contemporaneously prior to exiting the unit through the outlet (60). The filter unit (10) further comprises a durable outer jacket (80) fixedly covering the exterior-facing surfaces of the filter plates (20n) and fixedly holding the end plates (24,26).</p> |
