PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for driving an excellent vibration wave motor during starting, and also to provide a lens barrel, a camera and a drive method.SOLUTION: A device 40A for driving a vibration wave motor 10 includes: a vibrator 11 which has an electromechanical conversion element 13 to be vibrated by input of a drive signal and whose vibration surface is vibrated by vibration of the electromechanical conversion element 13; and a moving body 15 which is brought into pressure-contact with the drive surface and relatively moved by vibration of the drive surface. The device 40 for driving the vibration wave motor 10 drives a body L3 to be driven by relative movement of the moving body 15. In the drive device 40A, the alternate rotational control for alternately changing the rotational direction of the moving body 15 is performed with respect to the vibration wave motor 10 when the rotational speed of the moving body 15 becomes equal to or less than a predetermined speed. |
