<p>A method and apparatus for providing ultra-high definition television service is provided. The apparatus for providing UHDTV service sets up a type of the UHDTV service as a first type of HDTV service and a second type different from that of the HDTV service in an environment of the UHDTV service and the HDTV service coexist.</p>
