PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device for an electric vehicle, which is constructed to create a more ideal and smooth relationship between the travelling speed and the acceleration of the vehicle and secure transmitting efficiency.SOLUTION: A bypass gear transmission mechanism 10, and a toroidal type continuously variable transmission 11 and both first and second planetary gear mechanisms 12, 13, are arranged between a driving side rotating shaft 4a and a driven side rotating shaft 5a arranged parallel to the driving side rotating shaft 4a, in parallel to each other with respect to a power transmitting direction. Between the bypass gear transmission mechanism 10 and the driven side rotating shaft 5a, and between an output gear 38 of the toroidal type continuously variable transmission 11 and each of both first and second planetary gear mechanisms 12, 13, a first clutch mechanism 16 and both second and third clutch mechanisms 44, 49 are provided, respectively. |
