Provided is an ink set that comprises at least two colored inks, that is unlikely to cause bleeding or mottling even when used to record on a recording material having low ink absorption ability, and that yields a recorded image having high print density. The ink set comprises at least two colored inks that include a yellow ink and a magenta ink and that each contain water, a surfactant, a colorant, and a water-soluble organic solvent. When the surfactant content in the total mass of the yellow ink is S1 and the surfactant content in the total mass of the magenta ink is S2, S1 satisfies 1.0 mass%≤S1≤2.5 mass%, and S1 - S2, i.e., the value of subtracting S2 from S1 satisfies 0.1 mass%≤S1 - S2≤0.8 mass%.
