<p>PURPOSE: A device and a method for downloading electronic program guide of a broadcasting receiver are provided to selectively download EPG information for a cable broadcast of a region to which a user belongs through an internet, thereby reading EPG information by a channel and setting viewing limitation by grade for an analog channel. CONSTITUTION: A memory(110) stores a URL(Uniform Resource Locator) address of a web server in which EPG(Electronic Program Guide) information is recorded and local information related to a cable broadcast station. A network module(130) accesses the external web server through a network according to the URL address. An EPG processing unit(140) parses a header of an EPG packet received through the network module to extract local information. When the local information is similar to the local information of the memory, the EPG processing unit obtains and stores EPG information included in the EPG packet.</p> |
