PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that is highly convenient and quickly returns from a power-saving state even with the inclusion of USB ports.SOLUTION: External devices 2a and 2b are connected to USB ports 100a and 100b. Connection detection units 110a and 110b detect the connection state as to whether the external devices 2a and 2b are connected to the USB ports 100a and 100b, respectively, from an optical sensor, switch, and the current/voltage of VBUS line. At the time of return from a power-saving state, when the external devices 2a and 2b are detected by the connection detection units 110a and 110b, a power-saving processing unit 120 waits for the response from the external devices 2a and 2b. When the external devices 2a and 2b are not detected by the connection detection units 110a and 110b, the power-saving processing unit 120 causes an image forming apparatus to return from the power-saving state without waiting for the response from the external devices 2a and 2b. |
