PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform traffic management equipped with egress control.SOLUTION: There is provided a network device which includes: a network interface configured to transmit and receive a packet at a line rate; a memory configured to store a scheduler hierarchical data structure; and a scheduler module. The scheduler module prefetches a next active pipe structure included in the hierarchical type data structure, updates credit for a current pipe and an associated subport, identifies a next active traffic class within the current pipe based, at least in part, on a current pipe data structure, selects a next queue associated with the identified next active traffic class, and schedules a next packet from the selected queue when available traffic shaping token packet credit and available traffic class credit are greater than or equal to the a next packet credit. |
