PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing calcium hydride capable of reducing an amount of ammonia mixed in hydrogen generated when hydrogen is generated by hydrolysis.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing calcium hydride which comprises a step of reacting calcium and hydrogen under the condition where the amount of nitrogen involved in the reaction is 0.4 0.4×10mol equivalent or less relative to the amount of calcium.
