PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine improved in heat efficiency.SOLUTION: A chargeable insulating film 32 is formed on a piston surface 31 of a piston 30 forming a combustion chamber 22. When high positive voltage is applied to an electric field formation electrode 35 disposed on a cylinder head portion 24 from an exhaust stroke to a suction stroke, the insulating film 32 is positively charged. As the flame generated in the combustion chamber 22 in the combustion stroke has a property of positive pole, it is separated from the piston surface 31 by repelling the insulating film 32. Thus combustion heat of the flame released to the external through the piston 30 is reduced. Accordingly, cooling loss in an engine 1 can be reduced. |
