PURPOSE:To obtain a drug preparation for external use, having excellent transferability of germanium dioxide to diseased part, enabling the decrease of the amount of germanium dioxide in the drug and useful for the remedy of myositis, arthritis, etc., by mixing an aqueous solution of germanium dioxide with a base. CONSTITUTION:The objective drug preparation for external use can be produced by mixing an aqueous substance of germanium dioxide with a drug base. The aqueous solution can be produced by heating and completely melting germanium dioxide at >=1,100 deg.C preferably 1,100-1,200 deg.C and dissolving the obtained amorphous glassy germanium dioxide in water to obtain a uniform aqueous solution. The mixing of germanium dioxide in the form of an aqueous solution enables the improvement of the transferability of germanium dioxide to the diseased part, the remarkable reduction of the amount of expensive germanium dioxide and the production of a safe external drug. The content of germanium dioxide in the drug is preferably 0.1-1.0wt%. It mitigates the symptoms of especially tenonitis, ligamentitis, arthritis and periostitis.
