PURPOSE:To effectively read out an original and to reduce the size of a device by reading out the picture information of the original by a device constituted so as to carry the original to a sheet member reader to read out the picture information of the sheet member. CONSTITUTION:The reader is arranged on the lower side of a display window 7 in the moving direction of the sheet member 1, a light source 10 is arranged on the picture information entering surface side of the member 1, light from the light source 10 is reflected by the sheet member 1, the reflected light is reached an equal magnification type reading sensor 12 through a refractive index distribution type lens array 11, and the picture information of the member 1 is formed on a light receiving cell of the sensor 12. When an original 13 is inserted from an inlet 17, the original 13 carried at a constant speed by rollers 14, 15 while being guided by a guide member 16 and the sheet member 11. When the original 13 passes the position of the reading member at the constant speed, light is irradiated from the light source 10 to the original 13 and the image of the reflected light is formed on the light receiving cell of the sensor 12. The original 13 is guided by a guide member 19 and discharged 18.
