Provided are a display device and a method for providing a user interface thereof. The method for providing a user interface of a display device according to the present invention comprises the steps of: displaying a content list including one or more contents; and determining whether or not a source providing a selected content is connected to the display device if one among the one or more pieces of content included in the content list is selected, and displaying a guide message for providing information on the source if the source is determined not to be connected to the display device.
