PURPOSE:To permit reduction of time for analysis by executing a sampling stage and analyzing stage successively. CONSTITUTION:A metal ingot 1 is sliced to an annular shape by a cutter 10 to form a plate-shaped body 2 in the sampling stage. The body 2 is blanked by a die 3 and a punch 4 to form a blanked body 5 which is used as a sample for analysis. The body 5 is then immersed in an electrolytic cell in which an electrolyte is stored. The body 5 as an anode and the electrolytic cell as a cathode are connected in this state to a DC power supply and the electrolytic polishing of the body 5 is executed. An oxygen and nitrogen analyzing instrument is used in the analyzing stage. The sample for analysis consisting of the body 5 is melted in a heating furnace to release the gaseous oxygen contained in the sample consisting of the body 5 and the content of the gaseous oxygen in the sample is measured in said stage. The time for the analysis is thus reduced.
