One or more properties of light output are controlled based on user manipulation of a mobile computing device (110, 510) such as a mobile phone. Data from a mobile computing device may be utilized to implement lighting property adjustments for one or more LEDs (132) based on the data. The data may be user gesture data that is based on physical movement of the mobile computing device in space by the user.
