PURPOSE:To obtain an antiviral, antitumor, cell growth inhibitory or immunological interferon (I-IFN) protein obtained from Escherichia coli transformant by a genetic recombination technique. CONSTITUTION:A drug obtained by containing an effective amount of human I-IFN obtained from an Escherichia coli transformant, e.g. Escherichia coli 294/pHIT trp2101 (FERM P-7550), by a genetic recombinant technique using a monoclonal antibody linking to the human I-IFN and having >=10<7>U/mg specific activity, a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, excipient or diluent. The above-mentioned human I-IFN protein preferably shows 17,000+ or -1,000mol.wt. by measurement using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)-polyacrylamide gel (17.5%) electrophoresis, has cysteine or half cystine or methionine and links to the monoclonal antibody to the protein expressed by the formula.
