Bundles of fibres, esp. of extruded polyester fibres, are passed through a carding engine where they are preheated to a set temp., stretched to the given residual elongation and thermofixed. They then pass through the carding process for the mfr. of spinning tapes. Method produces spinning tapes from fusion-spun polyester fibres in high quality at low cost.
