Novel cyclic azabenzimidazole derivatives useful as anti-diabetic agents

Disclosed herein are imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine derivatives of formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein T is N; U is CR1; V is CR2; W is CR4; X is -O- or–O-CH2, and the other variables shown in formula (I) are as defined in the specification. These imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine derivatives are suitable for the treatment of a disorder, condition, or disease selected from the group consisting of: Type 2 diabetes, hyperglycemia, Metabolic Syndrome, obesity, hypercholesterolemia, and hypertension, in a mammal in need thereof.
