Provided are a rotator position detecting device for a wound-synchronous motor, and a method thereof. The rotator position detecting device for the wound-synchronous motor includes: an exciter forming magnetic flux of a rotator by exciting the rotator; an inverter forming the magnetic flux of a stator in an interval of a regular angle by applying a voltage vector to the stator; a current measurement unit measuring an output current of the inverter generated by torque due to the formed magnetic flux of the rotator and the formed magnetic flux of the stator; and a rotator position detecting unit detecting the position of the rotator based on the measured output current; thus being utilized for a situation with properties where a reverse rotation is prohibited, and preventing a failure in the operation and a phase-out phenomenon due to the absence of a rotator exciting position information. |
