The present invention discloses a method for saving standby power by using a battery. In a device including a switching mode power supply device, a battery unit, and a microcomputer, the method comprises; (a) a step of determining whether the device is operated for a first time or not; (b) a step of supplying or preventing power voltage to the switching mode power supply device according to the operation of the device; and (c) a step of supplying the power voltage to the microcomputer if the power voltage is supplied to the switching mode power supply device and supplying battery power of the battery unit if the power voltage is prevented. According to the present invention, unnecessary standby power consumption can be reduced because unnecessary power use is prevented when the device is in a standby state mode in which the device does not operate. Moreover, the method prevents the device from being converted into a standby mode by sensing output voltage of the switching mode power supply device if AC power is not applied in a moment by reason of blackout, etc. and prevents complete discharge of a battery by informing a user of a battery replacing time by sensing battery voltage if the battery is not operated normally by reason of battery discharge, etc. |
